The Co-operators is looking for a Supervisor, Group Sales Support (bilingual) in the Group Sales area in Mississauga.

The Supervisor, Group Sales Support provides leadership and oversight to a regional team of Group Service Representatives. This role works with their team to enhance the Group client experience, improve the quality of information provided to head office, ensure consistent adherence to best practices and support our growth strategy and achievement of sales targets across the region.

People Management
• Recruits and selects staff members by conducting workforce and succession planning, developing role descriptions, and posting and interviewing.
• Facilitates employee development through orienting new employees, assessing and addressing training needs, enhancing development to build bench strength for the unit, and coaching on career management.
• Promotes staff engagement by fostering a positive and respectful work environment, addressing employee relations issues, and planning and implementing team-building activities.
• Manages performance through the Achieve program, including the planning, assessing, and review phases and ensuring understanding of job and performance expectations, taking steps to remove barriers to success, facilitating empowerment, encouraging accountability and providing appropriate rewards and recognition.
• Schedules and monitors time and attendance, including approving absences and overtime.

Operations Management
• Participates in planning activities such as providing input into strategic plans, developing unit plans, identifying priorities and scope of activities for unit operations, designing/modifying work structures to meet business needs, and researching and planning high-level operational efficiencies.
• Ensures appropriate policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines are in place for area of responsibility, and monitors compliance with corporate policies
• Participates in unit budgeting and reporting activities, such as preparing annual budget, determining reporting needs for unit, monitoring reports and summarizing activity for more senior management review.
• Leads change by identifying opportunities for change, preparing plans, assessing scope/impacts, implementing change, providing information and support, and monitoring progress.

Active Daily Management
• Monitors workflow, allocating resources and auditing completion and quality, identifying and implementing opportunities for process efficiencies (i.e. continuous improvement) and filling in for staff on unit tasks, when necessary.
• Resolves escalated issues and makes informed decisions, providing guidance to others to enable them to handle in future.
• Exchanges relevant information with internal and external clients, presenting ideas, fostering positive client relationships and negotiating settlement of issues/complaints as well as acting as unit spokesperson in meetings.
• Provides staff communications on relevant information and channels feedback upwards.
• Handles administrative duties such as completing and authorizing business transactions beyond limits of staff members.

Personal and Professional Effectiveness
• Ensures continuous leadership development, incorporating learning into daily management.
• Continues to develop in area relating to role by attending meetings/conferences, reading materials to maintain current regarding industry and regulations, and maintaining licenses/certifications, etc.
• Some post-secondary education in Business Administration/Commerce or related industry designations.
• 5-7 years supervisory experience
• Sales experience would be an asset
• Bilingualism is required
