JOB DESCRIPTION:
Our client, an international telecommunications company, is currently seeking for a Network Engineer to join his Operations Engineering group. You will be responsible for supporting a worldwide IP service platform and associated VoIP and Video applications.
Responsibilities:
• Preform Network Maintenance on the Global Network infrastructure such as, but not limited to, Routers/switches, Soft Switch, Session Border Controllers and Linux systems.
• Document and test proposed maintenance activity on these various network platforms.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues involving, but not limited to, TCP/IP, SIP, OSPF and BGP.
• Preform Capacity management task such as Server resource management, bandwidth monitoring, user licensing and call capacity.
• Support Tier III escalations in troubleshooting complex customer issues.
• Write processes and procedures for operations, provisioning and NOC teams.
• May respond to network events off hours based on ‘on call rotation schedule’.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
• Bachelor degree in Engineering or similar
• 3+ years hands-on experience in managing/configuring telecom networks, with a strong background in VoIP, IP packet networks and server infrastructure.
• Must prove solid technical understanding and knowledge of TCP/IP and SIP.
• Experience with packet analyzer (WireShark, Hammer, XMS, Palladian, etc)
• Acme Packet SBC experience.
• Linux experience.
• Broad Works (or similar) experience (an asset).
• Juniper experience (an asset).
• Experience creating and maintaining Operational Reports such as (but not limited to) SLA and Outage reports, Operations Performance reports, Maintenance reports.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to take ownership of complicated issues, and complete a project from concept to full implementation.
• Ability to prioritize based on immediate needs.
• Limited travel required.
• Ideally bilingual (English a must, French functional)
